Wizard is an app that makes data analysis easier than ever. No programming, no typing -- just click and explore. Wizard makes statistics accessible to beginners, but beneath the surface lies a full set of tools for doing professional research.

And if you find you need more power, try Wizard Pro.

Note: This application contains in-app and/or external module purchases.

Version 1.8.1:

Note: Now requires OS X 10.9 or later.

Fixed
  • Fix a bug that prevented the tutorial from running
  • Fix a bug that prevented exporting data to a SQLite database
  • The full year was not always visible when filtering by a Date column
New
  • Refresh from Web: Ever wish you could grab data directly from the web? Now you can import files directly from the WWW just by clicking "Import URL" and typing in a web address. Wizard will download the file for you, and keep your analysis up-to-date every time you click the "Refresh Data" button. The new feature is ideal for JSON data, but is designed to work with every file format supported by Wizard. To get started, choose File > Open URL, or click the new "Import URL" button in the toolbar.
  • Post-Hoc Analysis: AKA "multiple comparisons corrections". If you're hunting for significant p-values, you should usually apply a statistical correction to account for the number of simultaneous tests you're performing -- this keeps your Type I error rate under control (and also keeps the journal referees happy). Now applying the correction is as simple as checking the box labeled "Adjust for multiple comparisons" and entering a number. To avoid confusion, corrected p-values will appear with an asterisk. (The applied correction is technically a idák correction, which is slightly more accurate than Bonferroni. You are nonetheless encouraged to celebrate the new feature by belting out "Bonferroni" to the tune of "My Sharona".)
  • New Text Functions: "Concatenate" joins together multiple text columns with an optional separator. "Convert to Numeric" changes the underlying storage of a text column to be numeric. "Count Characters" and "Count Words" lets you compute the lengths of text values, ideal for analyzing natural-language data. If you'd like more text functions, just send me an email with your request and I'll take it under consideration. (Choose "Email the Developer" from the Help menu.)
  • Miscellaneous Improvements: The Raw Data and Pivot views now remember each column's width when you resize it. (Less "resize hell" after re-opening a document.) The Column menu has been cleaned up to display only functions that are relevant to the selected column. The Pivot view allows you to perform "Count Non-missing" on a category column. The "Enter Full Screen" shortcut is now the same as Apple programs (^⌘F).

  • OS X 10.9 or later
